This quote perfectly describes the many talented volunteers who give their time and ability here at Family Services of Greater Waterbury. From our dedicated board members to those who rock our babies, we reap the benefits of overflowing hearts. Now, more than ever, our agency is using volunteers to help enhance and enrich our current programs as well as plan for future programs that will feature more volunteer service opportunities.
Over the years we have used volunteers in the Therapeutic Child Center to assist the teachers with daily activities of the classroom and to lovingly rock the babies in our care. All of the children in our center have been identified as having been abused or neglected. Volunteers have provided the extra loving touch that these children need.
At Chapman House, our safe home for children who have been removed from their homes for abuse or neglect, volunteers enhance the program with the many extras they provide like YMCA memberships, family style dinners, trips to Build a Bear, park trips, book bags, furniture, Christmas dinners and presents galore.
Large groups from corporations such as IBM and Milone & MacBroom, Inc. have gathered employees together to paint our facilities and landscape our grounds. Volunteers help in the main office with administrative tasks such as filing and helping with mailings to the community.
As Family Services of Greater Waterbury celebrates its 100th anniversary, we have many new and exciting volunteer opportunities available. Our Centennial Celebration committee addresses the many activities that are taking place this year with subcommittees in marketing, events, and funds development.
We invite you to join us in sharing our celebration with the community. Specific experience is not necessary, just a heart for helping us to continue to provide strength and inspire hope in the lives of those we serve. Please contact Holly Leone, Volunteer Coordinator, at hleone@familyservicesgw.org if you are interested in joining a committee and working to make a difference.
